De Niro, 2008 Hanoverian Stallion of the Year, is referred to as “the embodiment of the Hanoverian stallion.” De Niro is an exceptional stallion of superlative type and performance. He is a wonderful combination of the best bloodlines of Oldenburg and Trakehner, with a dash of Thoroughbred, ensuring success as a sire of noble sport horses.

​Since a fantastic start to his career, De Niro has become a legend as a dressage sire, and he has been very successful in sport himself.
1997: De Niro was the Reserve Champion of the stallion performance test in Adelheidsdorf with an overall 141.93 and was the winner in dressage with a score of 145.41.
2000: At the age of 7, De Niro is already successful at Grand Prix
2001: De Niro wins at the German Championships for Professional Riders under Dolf-D. Keller
2002: International wins in the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Special in Saumur and Berlin
2003: De Niro wins the German Dressage Derby in Hamburg
2004: After having already produced two reserve champions, De Niro’s son Dancier becomes the Hanoverian Licensing Champion in Verden.
2005: De Niro is the damsire of the Hanoverian Licensing Champion in Verden.
2006: De Niro has the largest contingency of offspring (14) at the Bundeschampionate in Warendorf.
2007: De Niro’s son, Deveraux is the World Champion of the 6 year old Dressage Horses. More De Niro offspring are successful at Grand Prix.
​2008: De Niro is named the Hanoverian Stallion of the Year.
2009: De Niro has two offspring in the European Championships, and with Dablino the most successful developing Grand Prix horse.
​2010: De Niro is placed 5th on the World Breeding Federation for Sporthorses’ list with 10 successful offspring competing internationally at Grand Prix. His son, Dablino ridden by Anabel Balkenhol, wins team bronze at the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky. De Niro’s son, Desperados ridden by Falk Rosenbauer wins the German Dressage Derby in Hamburg.
2011: De Niro offspring earn over 230,000 Euro in winnings in 2011 pushing the total winnings of De Niro’s offspring over the 1 million Euro mark.
​2012: A total of 6 offspring travel to the Olympic Games in London. For Germany: Desperados ridden by Kristina Sprehe, Dablino under Anabel Balkenhol, as well as the reserve horse, D’Agostino ridden by Fabienne Lütkemeier. For Spain, Delgado ridden by Beatriz Ferrer-Salat, for Belgium, Donnerfee under Claudia Fassaert, and the reserve horse for Canada, Devon L ridden by Diane Creech.

​In his career as a sire, De Niro has produced over 70 licensed sons, and his offspring are successful in the dressage arenas worldwide. De Niro has proven himself through his own performance in the show ring and through his offspring’s exceptional achievements.
